Madalynn Young, MA
Licensed Associate Professional Counselor
It is a profound privilege to walk alongside clients as they rediscover connection, reclaim their stories, tend to places of joy, and pursue lives that feel intentional, grounded, and true. I truly believe the path to healing and restoration is available to all, and to be able to walk with you as you move towards intentional and wholehearted living would be a deep joy for me.
Hello! I'm Madalynn— a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I hold an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University with a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. While I’ve called Georgia home for nearly ten years, I grew up in Texas and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Music from the University of Alabama. My clinical experience includes working in community-based agencies and an inpatient hospital with individuals and families navigating the impact of trauma and eating disorders. Additionally, I’ve spent eight years working as a professional photographer working closely with couples and families to bring their stories to life.
Meet Madalynn
Our world moves at an ever-increasing pace. It can be easy to get caught in the hustle of culture and lose connection to our dreams, our values, our stories, and ultimately, ourselves. My hope is to offer my clients a space to pause and breathe and a place to rest. I believe healing happens through connection. Our early relationships shape the way we understand ourselves and others, sometimes in ways that continue to influence us long after the original experiences have passed. Through story work and an attachment-based lens, I help clients notice how past patterns may be showing up in the present. Together, we work to reauthor the narratives that have held power and cultivate new pathways that support confidence, clarity, and authentic living. I invite the holistic self, including mind, body, and spirit, into the room.
Clinically, my therapeutic work in a treatment center for trauma and eating disorders inspired an interest in the biological impact of trauma and how it is coded in the brain and body. I also use creative arts, mindfulness, and somatic-based approaches to promote connection to the embodied experience, regulate the nervous system, and integrate healing in a way that feels grounded and real.
My own path to this work has been shaped by creativity and movement. As a classically trained pianist and a professional photographer, I have spent much of my life telling stories through sound and imagery, finding beauty and meaning even amidst complexity. Yoga has been an important part of my life for more than fifteen years and completing my RYT-500 training deepened my respect for the mind-body connection.
How I work
In my spare time, I am always enjoying moments outside with the ones I love- whether that is hiking in the mountains or planning an elaborate dinner party in the backyard. I also enjoy studying music, exploring new cities, arranging flowers, engaging with my faith community, practicing yoga, and playing pick-up sports with friends.
